General Information

Date: 4 February

Time: 04h00 -12h00

2010 is the year of the SAX Offender. Think naughty, think cheeky, think SAXxy… and make sure you’ve got handcuffs! It’s a proven fact that SAX sells *wink, so dress up or better still, dress down, coz public indecency isn’t illegal on SAX Appeal day! Check out the event photo gallery for more!

In the early hours of the morning, more than 2000 students hit the biggest traffic intersections of the 021 to sell as many copies of SAX Appeal as possible. It’s a motorist’s nightmare, but a student’s dream!

How to Get Involved

Res Freshers  – You are automatically included in this epic project. Ask your Res Rep (house comm Rag person) for exact details. They’ll make sure you’re awake and ready, and the buses will pick you all up at your res and take you to an intersection.

Day Students need to sign up at the RAG Stall on Jammie Plaza during Societies’ Week, or at the RAG office (4th floor, Steve Biko building – above the food court). We’ll sms you details beforehand. There will be a bus leaving from Upper Campus at 04:30 time, or you can simply rock up at the depot closest to your house. Your choice =)

Everyone… Join the Facebook event UCT RAG SAX Appeal 2010

  • Most Sales

How Depots Work

Your depot manager will have all the magazines and information. Each person gets 20 magazines to start with – you’ll sign for them. You then sell all of them, and take your R400 back to the depot manager. You can get more magazines if you’re keen. If you have not sold all your magazines, you give back the rest, as well as the money you have earned.

Sometimes motorists will give extra, as a donation. THIS IS NOT YOURS TO KEEP! It all goes to charity – SHAWCO, so give it up for the kids!

Find the Team

Find the SAX team at the RAG stall during Plaza Week, RAG Office (4th floor, Steve Biko Building), Freshers’ Braai, Res Registration Days, RAG events, or get hold of us via email.
